Deron Williams admitted that he had Monday’s game in New York circled on his calendar. He proved it, and also proved that he’s the best point guard in the area by scoring a season-high 38 points and leading the Nets to a 100-92 victory over Jeremy Lin and the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. It was the Nets second win in three nights.
The Nets made just one of their first 10 shots and trailed by 10 early, but they were within three at the end of the first quarter and went ahead early in the second. Behind big quarters from Williams and MarShon Brooks, they took an eight-point lead into the half. And then Williams really caught fire, hitting four threes in the third period as the Nets went up by as many as 19.
